The Cost of Misguided Religious Agendas in Schools

OK, I’m always gonna be honest with you so believe me when I say I am not up on current events and it’s totally by choice. Sure, i have a lot on my plate but the real reason is it usually sickens me and this is a perfect example.

The other night my wife came to me with jaw dropped. She said people are trying to get the 10 commandments into public school classrooms. Forget that we took God out of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, which was the right thing to do, and now trying to get Christian values of this magnitude into the public schools. Forget that people are trying to shove their values down other people’s throats. But please, DO NOT forget the amount of time, resources and money they are using to do so because that will come into play shortly.

I am calling groups like Texas Values, My Faith Votes and Alliance Defending Freedom out on the carpet, calling Bull Shit, and calling all of you hypocrites! Some Christian values, which should also be human values, are to help people in need, be true to your fellow man, essentially do the right thing. Oh, how Christians, and yes, technically I am a Christian, love to talk about walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Oh, look at what a good person I am and then do the opposite thing. I am not talking about trying and failing as we all do. I mean 10 seconds later, knowingly and willingly do wrong and happy while doing it. Well, congratulations as the Devil, if one exists, is proud of you. He is pleased that you are trying to get the Lord’s commandments into your children’s classrooms meanwhile, your kids already know them because you and your church taught them. Meanwhile, they won’t follow them because they see you not following them.

How about we take those previously talked about time, resources, and money, still put it into public schools, and help the ever-growing number of special needs children in under-funded classrooms with under-educated teachers? Did you know the gym teacher cane teach a bunch of special needs children, with varying disabilities, for any amount of unspecified time? I’ve seen it done. The law specifies ANYONE can do it if replacing a qualified teacher in an emergency situations and schools rotate that one “qualified” teacher around to different schools and keep coming up with “emergencies” to replace them. Ive seen teachers playing on their phones while kids did whatever they wanted. It is glorified babysitting. I witnessed a “teacher” trying to teach my son (and other special needs children) addition and multiplication when my son still doesn’t know what the number one is. Oh, when the kids get to be too much trouble, they get strapped to a chair and put in a room by themselves left to scream! I know this because I caught them doing it to my own son. Meanwhile, others witness it and say nothing, even when we were fighting the public school. As a side note, odds are some of these people were upstanding Christians., I thought maybe it was just Philadelphia doing crap like this (If you keep reading my blogs, you will learn of the nightmare my family went through) but when we were forced to move to Maryland, or should I say run away to Maryland, the same shit was happening there too.

So Christian groups trying to advance your religious and political agendas by spending millions and millions of dollars given “donated” by the 1% and your minions spending countless hours and using unlimited resources, if you want to make public schools better AND uphold those !0 Commandments, help the people that actually need the help because they can’t do it themselves. Stop the abuse, the mistreatment and improve the quality and pay of special needs educators as its harder teaching them math than it is a typical child. Improve the resources, the education, and the quality of life. I bet the money spent will be recouped over countless years because children who might live a life on disability could actually end up working and independent. Maybe someone like my son wouldn’t need a constant 1:1 assistant his entire life if the schools did what they are required to do by the law and paid for with our taxes. Instead of giving someone a fish to eat today, teach him to fish and he will eat a lifetime and in the process, stop being hypicrites and actually uphold your values.
